Howdy all,

Freshmen Orientation Week has finally come and gone. It's kinda scary looking at it from the standpoint of a senior who has been to the past four (three as a cadre member and one as a fish), and who will not be experiencing another one as a member of the Corps of Cadets. Drawing upon those four years of being at FOW, I would have to say that the class of '14 has, in my honest opinion, been the best Spartan fish class that has graduated from the week-long training session. They were motivated and ready to learn like any fish that comes should be, but unlike many of the other classes, their grasp of the fundamentals has been outstanding and much quicker than those of the past including my own fish buddy class. They had been through hours upon hours of marching practices, scholastics briefings, hallway instruction sessions, and buddy time. By Friday, I was more than happy to be marching them around the Quad as "graduated" freshmen. Class of '14 parents, you should be proud of your sons and daughters, they have come a long way since you left them here on campus a little over a week ago. For the parents of the cadre, I also believe you have a reason to be proud of your young adults. FOW would not have run so smooth (and have been so painless for me) had I not of been surrounded by the caliber of cadre at my disposal. While there were a few little issues here and there, all and all, the cadre settled into their leadership roles well, and I am proud of them for doing so as well.

However, as summer dies off (while the heat does not) and all of our college classes start up, we find ourselves switching into more of an academic mode. This afternoon the fish have the MSC Open House to go to, which is where they'll learn more about a few organizations around campus. Encourage your son or daughter to get involved outside of the Corps!! It's a great chance to be free from the Corps for a few hours every so often and I find I manage time much more better if I do not have a bunch of free time to sit around.

The BBQ chain or myself will be sending out an email later today about the plans before the football game this weekend, and the class responsibilities regarding snacks, drinks, etc. In the meantime, take care! Howdy all,

Freshmen Orientation Week is just around the corner, and with two days to prepare for the 32 incoming freshmen, Company S-1 has been working around the clock to get everything the way it needs to be.

As of right now, we have just re-done our website to include the basics for this upcoming year. What this means however, is that there aren't any photos and only basic information about the outfit posted as of right now, but as this year goes along, we're going to try and keep everyone posted through pictures and news entries as to what the outfit is up to.

The cadre and I will be busy over the next week and a half, but stay posted to our website for daily updates and pictures of the new freshmen class as they progress through FOW.
